Sally Gibson is the recipient of the 2017 June Callwood Award for Bruce Peninsula Hospice(BPH). This award was established in 1994 by Hospice Palliative Care Ontario to acknowledge and thank outstanding hospice volunteers throughout Ontario. June Callwood was a community activist, author, recipient of the the Order of Canada and Order of Ontario, and a long time advocate for hospice care.
Sally has been a volunteer for 10 + years and is available for north and south regions. She has had long term clients whom she has served faithfully, She has taken advantage of every training program offered by BPH as well as seeking out other external programs especially in the area of dementia. Her talent in expressing herself in writing is definitely a wonderful gift. With this in mind, Sally has written reports for many workshops and social gatherings. She is also the “go to person” to read and critique books that might be beneficial to have in our hospice library. She has served on the Volunteer Committee, and the Accreditation Committee with diligence and commitment She has also been recording secretary and, Secretary of the Board of Directors. She brings her planning, preparation and skills to contribute immensely to all these committees thus furthering the workings of BPH.
